Well, this article has been a long time in the making and isn't actually a finished product. Jon and I don't have the same amount of time to work on this site as we used to, though our love for photography has never flagged. I present my observations and opinions regarding the lenses in the article. The conclusions may be handy for those looking for ONE lens only setups. The article is a little out of date because of the introduction of new 16/17/18-50/55mm 2.8 lenses.
I managed to snap up one of the very first Sigma 30mm EX DC f1.4 lenses to go on sale in Japan and compare it to one of my favourite primes, the Canon 35mm f2. The lens should be available in the US by the end of July and has so far proven itself to be an excellent prime lens. Read the review here.
The Canon 35mm f/2 has been my mainstay lens on my Rebel XT. However, I've always wanted something even faster with USM. Well, Sigma has answered my prayers with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Prime. We will have one in for review by the end of the month. If you must have it now, pre-order it from Amazon here:
A popular and much loved lens, the Tamron 28-75mm vs its latest competitor, the Sigma 28-70mm. See what we have to say!
